This lamp is made entirely from stuff I found in the trash, although it's cheating to take too much credit for innovation here: I found the base, pole, socket, and chain altogether as a single assembly.
What's really interesting is the shade: It's the strainer out of an old dishwasher. It attaches to the lamp base via three metal straps which were already welded to the strainer. All I had to do was bend them out a bit with a pair of pliers to make them fit snugly around the socket.
